The 1oz Silver American Eagle is the official bullion coin of the United States, with a legal face value of $1. First introduced in 1986, these coins are minted by the U.S. Mint, primarily at facilities in San Francisco and West Point, New York.
The obverse (front) of the coin features the iconic Lady Liberty design by sculptor Adolph Alexander Weinman. Lady Liberty is depicted draped in the American flag, striding forward with the rising sun behind her. The word "LIBERTY" arches across the top, while the phrase "In God We Trust" appears beside her leg. The year of issue, 2019, is inscribed at the bottom.
The reverse showcases a striking heraldic eagle and shield design by John Mercanti, former Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint. Above the eagle are 13 stars, symbolising the original American colonies. The motto "E Pluribus Unum"—Latin for "Out of Many, One"—is featured prominently, reflecting the unity of the nation.
